What it does with Fergus

It works out what kind of job this is

An emergency and a quote request are not the same call and should not land in the same place. The receptionist asks enough to tell them apart, then says out loud what happens next, so nobody hangs up wondering whether anyone is actually coming.

It gets the address right

Site address, not billing address. It reads the address back to the caller and checks it, because a job written into Fergus with the wrong street is worse than no job at all.

It writes the enquiry into Fergus

The customer, the site and the enquiry, created and linked, in their own words rather than a summary of a summary. Nothing to re-key when you finally sit down.

It can raise the quote request and book the visit

Both are off until you switch them on. When they are on, it can raise a quote request for you to price, and book a visit into your diary against somebody who is genuinely free.

What it will not do

Worth knowing before you buy rather than after. Every connection has edges, and pretending otherwise only moves the disappointment later.

It does not price work. A quote request is raised for you to price; the receptionist never quotes a figure to a caller.

It books against real availability, so if the diary is full it says so rather than promising a time you cannot make.

Fergus has no assignment engine of its own, so the rules about who gets which job are ones you set here, not ones Fergus decides.

Questions

Does it write jobs straight into Fergus?

Yes. The customer, site and enquiry are created and linked in Fergus, in the caller’s own words. Raising a quote request and booking a visit are separate switches you turn on when you want them.

Will it book a visit without asking me?

Only if you switch visit booking on. Until then it captures the enquiry and leaves the scheduling to you.

What happens to an after-hours emergency?

It is identified as an emergency on the call, and your urgent-call rules decide who is rung. You are not reading about it in the morning.
